Ride Around Cayuga Lake with Janice and Emily Gallagher

Emily Gallagher invited me to support her daughter Janice on the AIDS Ride For Life in Ithaca, NY. Janice is a grad student at Cornell and has a home in Ithaca. The best support would be to ride with her.

Here we are at the Thirsty Owl Winery, about 80 miles into the ride.
Emily joined us in Seneca Falls and rode the west side of the lake with us.

Here is what Janice wrote to thank her financial supporters:
"Dear friends and family,

Thank you dearly for donating to the Aids Ride for Life in Ithaca! The 100 mile "century" bike ride was last Saturday around Cayuga Lake, and I completed it in just about 7 and 1/2 hours of biking time (about 10 hours real time :), with the help of my "uncle" David and mom. David (actually my mother's second cousin - a 71-year old cycling and marathon veteran who came from Vermont to accompany me!) and I rode the entire 100 miles together, and mom joined us for the final 45 miles. David taught me how to draft off of his wheel, and mom reminded my to enjoy the last 45 miles even as my legs started to ache. I indeed raised the $300 necessary to participate - and actually almost doubled that!

The money went for a great cause, and I felt happily supported and accompanied by all of you. I so appreciate your support and am touched that you donated in my name.

Abrazos from Ithaca, hoping to see you all soon,
Janice"
